Recycling is extremely important. There are many items that can be recycled like, plastics, papers, and cans. Did you know that yard waste recycling is an option? Some do not know about yard waste recycling, and even more don’t know the dos and don’ts of yard waste recycling. To help you with your yard waste recycling, we have listed some common items that can and cannot be recycled as yard waste.

Yard Waste Recycling: What to Include and What Not to Include

  • Approved for Yard Waste Recycling: The items that you should and are encouraged to include in your recycling are grass clippings, branches, tree trimming waste, leaves, plants, and lawn edging.
  • NOT Approved for Yard Waste Recycling: There are many items that should NOT be included in your yard waste recycling. Some of these items are animal poop, pots from plants, treated wood, plastic of any kind, garden tools (even if made of wood), rubber hoses, soil, sod, and any kind of balls or toys. Soil and sod are not approved due to how much they weigh, even though they seem like they should be included in yard waste recycling.
