dumpsters are an essential part of your operation
If you’re in the construction industry, you know that dumpsters are an essential part of your operation. Even the smallest construction effort generates scrap and waste, and that waste needs somewhere to go. Ultimately, most of the trash from your project will end up in a landfill, but in the meantime, you need a place to put it so that it doesn’t clutter your work area or impede your safety or progress.

Enter the humble dumpster, which will contain your trash until you’re ready to haul it away. Naturally, a large and involved project will need a bigger dumpster, while a smaller and simpler one will need less space for trash. We at Best Disposal Inc. know that it can be tricky to estimate what size dumpster you need, so we’ve put together a brief guide to choosing the right one.

Dumpsters are typically classified by their interior volume, i.e. a 10-yard dumpster can hold 10 cubic yards of trash, a 15-yard dumpster can hold 15 cubic yards, and so on. Although this seems simple enough, at Best Disposal Inc., our experience has taught us that many people don’t have an accurate sense of how much a cubic yard is. To put these numbers in more familiar terms, here is a table of roughly how many pickup trucks it would take to haul the same amount of trash.

Dumpster Size 10 yards 15 20 30 40
Number of Pickup Truck Loads about 3 about 4 1/2 about 6 about 9 about 12
